A few years ago, I interned at the Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes and the Memory of the Romanian Exile, where I was deeply impacted by the knowledge I gained. Specifically, insights into anti-communist dissent and political repression in Romania’s history.
I believe that understanding the past is essential in comprehending the present. Hence, inspired by post-war American comic books era, I crafted a story based on real events about the development of a secret league called “Dissident Society.”
The narrative revolves around its members who fight against oppression and protect people from all socio-professional backgrounds. A series inspired from the lives of people behind the Iron Curtain, starting from the Yalta Conference and the establishment of communist regimes until their downfall.
Unfortunately, I lack talent for drawing, but I am passionate about research, writing, and technology. Therefore, I have used an AI program to create the necessary illustrations based on my prompts. I aimed to demonstrate that in the digital era, anything is possible, and it’s up to us how we use technology.
The concept offers a digital experience, integrating significant and intriguing aspects from my research – for instance, Stalin’s post-war transmission or Churchill’s March 1946 speech – “Sinews of Power.”
